Inthe course of a Cambridge Union dpbste on "Is tho British Empire Moribundf" Mr L, C. Webb, of Caius .Collego, said spiritual unity within the Empire was mythical. An Englishman might be respectfully treated in- Berlin; but it would be wiser not to disclose his identity in the Irish Free State, and he would probably be sandbagged before nightfall in Sydney. The motion was rejected by 127 votes to 63.
[Mr L. C. Webb has many friends in Christchurcb> He was a student at Canterbury College until he graduated M-A. with first-class honours in history in 1928. He won a, scholarship also, which enabled him to go to Cambridge, and he entered Caius College last year.]
