APPLICATION GRANTED.
In the Arbitration Court, yesterday, before his Honour Mr Justice Frazer and Messrs W. Cecil Prime (employers' representative) and A. L. Mont<jith (employees' representative), an application was made by the New Zealand Federated Biscuit and Confectionery Industrial Association of Workers (Mr J. S. Barnett) to have Guillermo and Co., of Victoria street, Christcliurch, added as a party to the Biscuit and Confectionery Manufacturing Employees' Award. Mr B. T. Bailey represented the Labour Department and Mr E. A. Guillermo appeared for his firm.. The main point at issue was the condition under which the company employed a boy—whether as a messenger, thus exempting him from the award, or as a hand engaged in the actual factory work. In granting the application, his Honour stated that the Court's decision did not admit that the boy was to work under award conditions. It would be for the Labour Department to ascertain whether his engagement was as.a messenger or as an assistant in the manufacturing work. J
