TOO LOW FLYING.

An Oxford-" Rowing Blue, named Hugh Robert Arthur Edwards, of Kensington, was fined £2O at Marlow, on September 25th, for piloting an aeroplane which had not been certified as airworthy and for not carrying a certificate of airworthiness. Captain Reginald Berkeley, the playwright and author, said that while playing lawn -tennis in his garden with a friend on June Ist they were startled by a low-flying' aeroplane. He took the number and reported the matter to the Air Ministry. Edwards said that ho paid the Air Ministry for a certificate for a whole year. They required. two modifications to ■ be made to : aeroplanes before issuing .an airworthiness certificate for a year; anddrily.iissued the certificate to March: 18th; He.:had the modifications made and reported the matter to the Ministry, ,;.but ■•■■ -they would not grant pie certificate until the aeroplane had been .inspected:- •-, The Bench, 'decided, in view of the great danger" to the public in flying uncertified aircraft, to impose a fine of £lO on each charge.
