After 45 years of con tintious public service in Canterbury, the Association come* to the public with confidence. Its activities are purely philanthropic, v.-ithout distinction, and the only paid ofhcial is the Secretary. Wherever crowds congregate, there can be seen the Voluntary lir) ? ade Members of St. John in uniform, with their First Aid Kits, u Football Matches, Horse Races, etc. It is very neceßsary to hoti&e the whole of the Association and Brigade activities -under one roof, and to this end it In desired tn erect on their freehold, 20C> Gloucester street (next JiYA), a Substantial Two-Storey Buildng (plans of which may bo soen), containing accommodation for the Ambulances, living quarters for the Drivers, Lecture-rooms for First Aid and Home Nurwlng, Brigade Quar ters, Dressing Station, vStorerooms, Office Accommodation, etc. It is intended the .Free Ambulance Service will oporaU over the whole of that part of Canterbury* tying between the Hurunui and Rakaia Rivers.
