JUBILEE BANQUET.
FUNCTION AT KAIAPOI. To celebrate the 50th anniversary- of. Court Woodford,. No.. 6583, A.0.F., a pibilee banquet Was held in- the Orange Hall, Kaiapoi, on Saturday evening. There was a large and representative attendance of menibers of • the Order from all parts of the Canterbury district. Members who were .initiated on the night the Court was founded, and who are still living, are Bros. G. A. Broadley, H. Bardon, T Gibling, H. Haytnau/and It. Hayman. Of these, Bro. G. A. Broadley. P.C.R., and Bros R. and H. Hayman were present at the. linnquet. The arrangement of the tables was attended to by the lady members of Court Victoria assisted by the "wives of members of the Court. C.R. Bro. V. B. MoPartlin. P.C.R., presided,-and proposed'-.the. toast of 'The King." Other toasts honoured were: 'Silent Toast, to Members who have Passed," proposed by Bro.'L. R. Oram. PC.R.:, "Court -Woodford;" proposed by Bro; 0.. : . Jacobsen, P.D.C.R., district 6ecretar.y, and responded to bv C.R. Bro. W. B. MoPartlin.. P.C.R., and Bro. . W.. Hart, secretary; "Canterbury United District." proposed by Bro L. R. Oram, P.C.R.• and responded, to by district officers. "Pioneer Members," proposed by Bro. J. E Burns. - and responded to bv Bro. W. Simpson. P.D:€.R., and Bro. G. A. Broadley.; P.C.R.; tors from Foresters' -.Courts," proposed by Bro. -W. Clarke. P.C.R., and responded to- bv Bro W. W. Tanner, P C.R.. Bro D. C. During the evening a varied -programme was given.- items being contributed by Sister O. Braisher, Miss Weakley. Bro. R ..A Blakeley. Bro. H. OiviT. Bro. A: 'Cartermole, PC.R., Bro: -A. Bollington. Bro. J. Belgrave, P.D.C.R.. and. art orchestra comprised of. .members of the Court—Bros.. J. Johnston. E. Forrest. A.. Bollington, \- jiroadleyv W. ;Lintott, and Sister B. : Clothier. . Sister • B. Clothier also •K-ted as accompanist to the soloists. In connexion with the jubilee celebration, a church parade was held at the Kaiapoi Methodic Church yesterday morning, many members of the Court attending. The service was conducted by the Rev 0. Burnet, who took his text from St. Matthew, sth Rbapter. and 41st verse: "And whosoover shall compel thee to go a mile, >*»> .with him twain." The speaker referred to the excellent work carried out by Friendly Societies, who were following trie teaching of Christ in helping, others in time of trouble and sickness. '•' They not only provided for themselves but for'the needs of others, and were snowine the spirit of the second mile During the service special infhems were given bv the choir.
