LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR OP NEW SOUTH WALES. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—Bt EtECTWO TELKOBAPH—COPtaiOBT.) (Received September 18th, 9.40 p.m.) SYDNEY. September 18. Sir William Cullen has resigned the Lieutenant-Governorship of New South Wales. Sir Philip Street, Chief Justice ot the Supremo Court, has accepted the office. Sir William Cullen was born at Mount Johnston, Jamberoo, New South- Wales, in 1855 He was educated at district schools and at Sydney University, where he gained the Lithgo\v Scholarship for highest proficiency and the John Smith Prize for Physics in 1878. the Barker Scholarship for Mathematics, the Renwick Scholarship for Science, 1870. 8.A., with first-class honours in Classics. 1880 M.A., 1882. LL.B. 1885, LL.D 1887. He was called to the Bar in 188S and took high rank at the Equity Bar, as well as before tho State Full Court and the High Court. He was appointed K.C in 1905 and was raised to the Bench as Chief.Justice in 1910 in succession to the late Sir Frederick-Darley. He was appointed Lieutenant-Governor the following year. Sir Philip Street, who was born at Darlinjrhurst, Sydney, in 1863, graduated with the degree of B.A from the Sydney University and was called to the Bar-in 1886.
