PARK FOR OPAWA.
NEGOTIATIONS PENDING. A public meeting of residents in the •Opawa district is to be called shortly to go into the question of providing a park for Opawa, according to a decision i«aehed at the monthly meeting of the Opawa-HiHsborough Burgesses, held in the Opawa School last evening. Mr P. T. Boyce presided over a good attendon behalf of the deputation, which had called upon the Reserves Committee of the City Council, Mr T. W West stated that if Opawa residents were desirous of having a park, the City Council would consider the advisability of a poll on the matter. Two members of the Council had also offered to address a meeting of residents. He stated that the option of a site in Newberry street, adjoining , the Opawa School, and comprising seven aeres, had been obtained, and it is understood that about £2500 would be required. It was decided to circularise residents and to hold over the matter until the next monthly meeting, when the date and place of the public meeting would be fixed. The assistance of the School Committee is also to be sought.
