TRAMWAY BOARD.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING. The fortnightly meeting o£ the Christchurch Tramway Board was held yesterday afternoon. Those present were Messrs \V. Hay ward (chairman), E. H. Andrews, H. Pearce, G. T. Booth, W. J. Walter, D. Sykes, W. Williamson, Mrs E. li. McCombs, and Mr Frank Thompson (General Manager). An apology was received for the absence of Mr J. Wood, through illness. M. K. Kubota, Trade Correspondent for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, of Japan, Wellington, wrote stating that it was the particular desire of his Minister, that the writer should procure for him the latest annual balance-sheet and report, and any publication of the Board covering its activities. It was agreed to furnish the information sought. Mr H. A. Penn, District Traffie Manager, New Zealand Railways, wrote, in reply to a complaint by the Board that a delay had been occasioned to a Barrington street-Square tram on August 19th. "This was occasioned by the exceptionally slow movement of a long excursion train," the letter stated. "I am taking the matter up with the locomotive department." The Works and Traffic Committee reported: The Conciliation Council arranged a new agreement to run until February Ist next. Present wages and conditions continue, except that meal relief has been cut out. The Union asked that meal relief be made universal, or else rut out altogether. The Conciliation Council agreed to delete it. Provision is made for drivers of trolley-buses to receive the same wages as motormen on one-man cars.
