A request in his Will that two standard double flowering cherry trees should be planted on his grave- instead of a headstone was made by Mr John Joseph Norton, a timber merchant, of Ashton Court, Branksome Park, Poole, Dorset, who left unsettled property valued at £230,919. He expressed the earnest desire that his funeral should be as plain and simple as possible, without wreaths, flowers, mourning, or laudatory addresses.
