POTATOES. AIiEA AND YIELD. _ Growers of potatoes were recently circularised and asked to farnish particulars of the quantity and quality of potatoes dug by them. The statement appearing below shows for each land district in the Dominion tho area and also the actual yield. The figures are in respect of all holdings of one acre or over, situated outside borough boundaries. Corresponding figures for the season aro quoted for the purpose of comparison. Compared with last year the total area in potatoes increased by

1910 acres, or 8.97 per cent., vrhile the total yield was heavier by 6500 tons, or 5.26 per cent. The respective average yields per acre were 3.97 tons table and 1.83 tons seed, otc., making a total of 5.80 tons in 1928-29, and 3.76 tons table and 1,84 tons seed, etc., making a total of 5.60 tons in 1929-30.
