A petition to have an area of land included in a different borough from that in which it is at present will bo heard by a Commission at the Magistrate's Court to-morrow. George Humphreys made application to the Gover-nor-General to have 700 acres owned by him excluded from the borough of Sumner and included in the county of Heathcote. The land lies noar the road leading from Sumner over the hills to Lyttelton, at the ,point just past the School for the Deaf. The Sumner Borough Council objected to the granting of the application, and the settlement of the question has been left to a Commission comprising Messrs H. A. Young, S.M. (chairman), W. Stewart, Commissioner of Crown Lands, and R. J. Watson, District Valuer. OLDER THAN RUGBY FOOTBALL.
