Among the passongcrs on the Niagara, due to arrivo at Auckland to-day, arc Mrs Moody and her small son, from Eagle, Alaska. Mrs Moody, who, as Miss Anderson, left Now Zealand in 1923, married in 1926, at Fort Yukon, Alaska, the Rev. G. 11. Moody, of the American Episcopal Mission. Mrs Moody will be well remembered in nursing circles in Wellington. While in New Zcalaud she will stay with her parents at Shirley, Christchurch. Mrs Livingstone, president of the Dannevirke branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, is visiting Wellington for the purpose of arranging a book which the division is preparing for publication. It is to be called tho "N.Z. Women's Household Guide." Dr. Freda Slater (England), who arrived in New Zealand by tho lonic, is to be married this week to Dr. Walden Fitzgerald, of Dunedin. Miss Eileen Jackmau (Christchurch) is the guest of Mrs M. C. Barak (Wellington). Miss G. Barak (Christchurch) is also spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs M. C. Barak. Tho engagement is announced of Jean Morrison, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs David McLaren, of Wanganui, to Harcourt George, only son of Mr and Mrs George Holcombc, of Christchurch. The New Zealand friends of Mr E. W. Stringer (Epsom) will be interested to hear that he has lately become engaged to Miss Margaret Lansdell, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. M. Lansdell, of Wembley Park. As wireless operator since 1927, Mr Stringer has travelled about the world on a number of liners. Ho will probably return to New Zealand within th,q pest two or three years. A marriage has been arranged and will shortly take place between Mr John Chaddesley Westall, Royal Marines, only son of the late Mr J. C. Westall and Mrs Westall, of Christchurch, and Maud Marion, daughter of tho lato Mr George F. Bushe and Mrs Gordon Gordon, of Trinidad. ! The Papanui sub-branch of the Plunkot Society are organising the sewing; stall and variety stall in conjunction with the Woolston SubBranch on Violet Day, Friday, September 12th. She showed every indication of con hidering it her life-task, and the Board was happy in the feeling that having made the right choice of a head, it h.-id won the abiding interest of a churchwomari of singular charm and exceptional force of character, under whose direction the school was hound to flourish. The staff and the girls of tho school will mourn the passing of one who had been a friend and counsellor, and a glowing example of strong, womanly character, and those parents who knew her well will deplore the loss of ono who was exorcising to beneficent an influence on their daughters.
