BOWLING.
SUMNER CLUB. Ur T. Newburgh (president) was chairman at a meeting of the committee of the Sumner Bowling Club. Before commencing ordinary Wsiness, Mr Newburgh referred in feeling terms to tbe death of Mr C. D. Gough, a late member; and also to the death of Ms J. V B. Crawford, who for a number of years had taken an active part in the club's social functions. A resolution of sympathy with the relatives, in each case, waa pasted. Mr A. E. Mathews, green superintendent, reported that the green was in very forward condition. The president referred to the good work done during the winter months by Messrs Jaroieson. Mathews, a{tf Edwards, in levelling the banks. It was reported that the town clerk had written giving the sanction of the Borough Council to the proposed alterations to the boundary. It was docided to open the season' on October Uth. An invitation from the Sumner-Bedcliffs Miniature Bifle ' Club, -to fire a friendly match, was accepted. The Sumner Volunteer Fire Brigade wrote accepting an invitation to a billiards and card match. Seven new members were elected.
