OXFORD TERRACE DORCAS SOCIETY.

* The Sunday school Hall of the Oxford terrace Baptist Church was tastefully decorated with spring flowers and foliage on Thursday last when the ladies of the Dorcas Society held their annual meting. Mr E. J. D. Ilcrcus was in tho chair. The report of the secretary (Mrs (J. \ Thompson) showed that 39 families, representing 98 persons, had been helped during the vear and 21 yards of material had been given to people able to make up for themselves: 373 new garments had been given away, also five blankets and 21 patchwork quilts. Of these, 118 garments wer» tent to the Manureua Children's Home in Auckland. The society's treasurer (Mrs Ingold) reported that although £lO short of otner years, the society had been able to koop going. The visiting committee, Mrs Sheate and Miss Innes, gave reports of the homes visited. A new sphere of work had been opened up during the year in the recommencing of the mothers' meetings, which are now held each week. The leaders, Mrs T. W. Voller and Mrs Langran, j«n., gave an account of this branch of the work, which showed that the women apreeiated the efforts which had been made on their behalf. The roll number had increased from 10 to 30. The election of officers for the new year resulted as follows:—President, Mrs 11. H. Holland; vice-presidents, Mrs Sheate and Miss Gresliam; secretary. Mrs C. Thompson ; treasurer, Mrs Ingold; cutters, Mesdames Holland. Langran, and Dutch; buyers, Mesdames "W. T. Jones and Holland; visitors, Miss Innes an<3 Mrs Sheate; leaders for the mothers' meetings, Mrs T. W. Voller and Mrs langran. jun.; tea committee, Miss Innes, Miss Sheate. and Mrs Holland. During the afternoon musical items were given by Mrs Woodard, afternoon tea was served, and a social hour concluded the gathering.
