The International Polo Cup line-ups for Saturday aro as follows: — Britain—Gerald Balding, Lewis Lacey (captain), C. T. Roark, Lieutenant Humphrey Guinness. United States—Eric Pedloy, Earle Hopping (captain), Tommy Hitchcock, Winston Guest. AMERICANS DEFEAT THE BRITISH. (Received September 7th, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. September 6. At Westbury. United States began the defence of the International polo cup to-day, defeating tho British team by 10 to 5. Thcro were 40,000 spectators. The first half of the match, despite tho disparity m the score of 5 to was one of tho most even in tho calibi-e of the riding and strategy ot both sides. The Americans, however, were hitting harder, and this superiority showed in the scoring. The riding was clean, there being only one foul, and that on tho American sido. Guinness' work .as back was the mainstay of the British side, Roark of course being the best of the hitters. Hitchcock was content to allow Podley and Hopping to do all the scoring. ["United States has held the trophy since 1921 tho contest taking place every third year.!
