Comment of the most scathing nature was passed by Mr Harper, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, at the conclusion of a case in which' Frederick Cade pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated assault on his son aged thirteen. "I am satisfied," said the Magistrate, "that accused committed a cowardly and aggravated assault on this frail bov. There is no excuse whatevei for nis behaviour, and I am satisfied the offence the - boy is supposed to have committed was only trivial. It is evident that the boy, when in the witness box, was in greats rear, and told his story to protect himB /(rrt rom , fu ?" v of his father. The accused is not a man at all.
