BYRE. The monthly meeting of the Eyre ("Jaunty Council was attended by Messrs H. E. Evans (in the chair), H. A.: Bennett, E. O. Dixon, a:id -J. W., Frizsell. Permission was given to several ratepayers to out willow wood at 5s a cord royalty. The Council accepted dedication of the newly-formed access; road to Couita Island bridge.. Valuations of the strips of land along the Two-chain road at Swannanoa, which were to be' sold to adjoining owners, owing to tb» narrowing of that road, were Deceived from the Valuation Department. As these valuations seemed reasonable, it was decided to proceed with the negotiations with the owners. . The clerk reported that £209 bad been banked during the month, and that after th* months payments had been met the overdraft would be j£IBSO, but this would be ; reduced to £I3OO as soon as the amount owing by the Highways Board was received. TAWERA. At the monthly meeting of. the Tawera County Council^there were present: Crs. H. A. Millar (chairman), R. M. Johnson, D. Doody, W. K. McAipine, J. K. McAlpine, and- W. M. Williams. ... .... McAlpine reported upon the proceedings of the conference of loca} bodies held recently to- consider tho Main High•waye Board's .finances. . In reply 'to a letter from the Director of Town Planning,- it was resolved to state that- this Council did not'desire to be joined with. others -in-, a. regional planning scheme, but preferred to. remain a separate area. It' was decided to renew the' Council's animal subscription to the Canterbury Progress League. ' Messrs .Taylor and Faulkner wrote drawing attention to the bad state of the .back road from the railway gates at .Kowai Bush. lt was. decided to have this road attended to. It was decided "to 're-deck the bridge between' Craigieburn and Avoca.! >
