THE QUESTION OP SITE. A , MISSING * PETITION. The Domains Board, at its meeting yesterday, gave Mr R. B. Owen permission to withdraw the following motion, which he had given notice to move:— "That the Domains Board should offer the City Council a site in Hagley Park, west of the Armagh street gates, for the McDougall Art Gallery, in exchange for their site behind the Museum.' ' Mr Owen said that in view of the decision of the City Couucil, ho wished to withdraw the notice of motion. Ho thought that as the City Council knew that his motion was coming forward, it would have postponed its decision; now the onus was on the City Council and not the Board. Mr W. 11. Winsor referred to a proposal, made some time ago, by Mr S. Hurst Seager, as to the extension of tho site behind the Museum. The chairman (Mr Goorgo Harper): I don't think thore is any question of extension; I haven't heard of any. Permission was given to withdraw the notice of motion. "A Famous Petition." Mr F. George asked the secretary W. F. llillson) if there was not a petition to present—a very famous petition, sent around the town and signed by business people and ladies, a petition that sought to teacb the Board now to do its wrok.
Mr Hillson: 1 haven't got it. Mr George: I regret very much. I should have had a, word on it!
