An adaptation from a novel by Peter B. Kyne, "Tide of Empiro," is to be screened at the Strand Theatre next week. Renee Adoree arid George Duryea are the stars. The. second picture is "Toss of the d'Urbervilles."

SECOND SUBSCRIPTION
CONCERT,
The Christchurch Orchestral Society, under Professor Savini, has prepared a very fine programme for their second concert to be given on Wednesday next, September loth, in the Civic Theatre. Items on the programme include: "Tristan and Isolde" (Wagner). "Scherzo," from the "Midsummer's Night Dream'.' (Mendelssohn): suite, "Le Cid" (Massenet): "Iris" (Mascagni), and Miss Bessie Pollard will be associated with the orchestra in Cesar Franck's "Variations-Sym-phoniqne," Miss Pollard presiding at the piano. The soloist will be Miss Millicent O'Grady. - The bos plan is at The Bristol.
