BOROUGH COUNCILS

RANGIORA. The fortnightly meeting of tha Rangiora Borough Council was htld last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr C, 8. Ayera) and Crs. H. R. Gillanders, R. H. Bailey, J. Linden, C W. Tyler, H. K. Kippenberger, W. Hoprell, F, E. Martyn, and W. Carson Wilson. Messrs Helotore and van Aach wrote asking for a re-valuation of a property off High street, belonging to Mrs E. M. B. Kinley.— The application was granted. Replying to an application from the Council for a map of the Ashley river reserves, tho Lands Department wrote stating that the Commissioner for Crown Lands in Christchurch had been aaked to prepare an up-to-date plan of the Ashley mer-bod reserves, and as aoon as it was completed it would be forwarded to tbe Council.

The Rangiora branoh of the Worker*' Educational Association wrote applying foi a grant.—£s was voted.

Dr. T. Fletcher Telford, District Medical Officer of Health, forwarded a draft by-law relating to the installation 'of abemical closets and asking the Council to confirm the by-law. The matter was referred to the By-laws Committee. The chief electrical engineer to the Pu!> li-3 Works Department wrote in reference to power shortage at Lake Coleridge and asked tho 00-operation of the Council in averting what might be a very critical situation.— b was decided that street lights be ez> tinguished at midnight. The Town Clerk reported that the bank accounts were as follows:—District fnnd account, debit £056 8a 3d ', electrio account, credit, £BB4 8s 3d; sewerage loan account, credit, *IBB4 14s 2d. Hates amounting to £3073 8s lOd had been paid This amount wot considerably in excess of that of last year for the corresponding period. A motion to apply to the Loans Board for permission to raise a loan for a high pressure water supply was carried. A motion was passed congratulating Mr and Mrs H. Turner on having celebrated their golden wedding. It was stated that Mr Turner had attended fifty consecutive meetings of the Council.
