AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
Tho second annual report of the l\ew Brighton Amateur Athletio Club, which is to come before the annual meeting, rewals a year of progress. Tho report stated that the membership has increased flora- 80 to 9-2 and the club ia in an improved poßition financially Tho club held a series of successful evening meetings during the season, and a number of members won events at outside meetings. In winning the inter-borough conteat the club was indebted to members for their enthusiasm, and was especially obliged to the ladies for their assistance. One of tho members (Miss M. Boyd) competed it the championships, but though unplatw. in the championship she won the 60yds ladies, handicap* The club is to bo congratulated upon having such keen coaches and trainers as Bessrs Boyd, Gallaoher, and Cooke Through his transfer to Ashburton the club lost a valued momber in Mr E. T. Chambers. Tho trophy winners were:— Most Points—Girls nnder 18: Miss E. Hay Ladies: Miss M. Boyd Schoolboys: F. W. Hulmo. Youths: F Gallachor. Youths' sprints: R. Marriott. Men's sprints: H C. Williams. Men's distance events: J, G. Hay. Field events: F. Gallacher. Club events: J. G. Hay. Thanks are due to Messrs A. W. Owles, W Qneree, R 8 I'eawon, L. 0. Matson, A. Hughes, S. Gallachet. S. H. Abel, E. Patterson, E. Smith, T. Hobbs, Corlies, T. Cooke, and T. Hulmo for donations and trophies. Thanks afe also due to the New Brighton Borough Council for its attention ta the grounds and its interest In the meetings. The report also conveyed thanks to the New Brighton Surf. Club for the use of their pavilion for meetings. The subscriptions outstanding total £lO 15s. The financial statement shows a credit balance of £5 Os 3d on the year's working.
