RARE BLOOMS. —September and October is the flowering season for the orchids in the Townend House at the Botanic Gardens, Christchurch. These blooms are from a collection of orchids received from Arizona two years ago.
TRACTORS AT THE RATANA SETTLEMENT, NEAR WANGANUI.—A fleet of tractors owned by Ratana, the Maori leader, engaged in preparing an area of 800 acres for a wheat crop at the Ratana Settlement, near Wanganui.
