VICTORIAN ASSEMBLY.
NEW LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION. (Eeceived September 4th, 9.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 4. Sir Stanley Argyle has been appointed Leader of the Nationalist Party in succession to Sir William McPherBon, who recently resigned. Sir Stanley also becomes Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. [Sir Stanley Seymour, M.8., 8.5., was born at Kyneton, Victoria, in 1867. He was educated at Kyneton Collegiate School, Hawthorn and Brighton Grammar Schools, and Trinity College, Melbourne University (M.8., 8.5.), M.E.C.S., England, L.R.C.P., London. He was Mayor of Kew in 1902. He served as lieutenant-colonel with the Australian Army Medical Corps in the European War. He has been a member of the Legislative Assembly for Toorak since 1920. He has already held Cabinet office, being Chief Secretary and Minister for Public Health in 1923-4 and 1924-7. He was president of the Victorian branch of the British Medical Association 1924-5 and of the Melbourne Medical Association in the following year.] MARKETING BILL CARRIED. (Received September 4th, 9.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 4. Following an all-night sitting, the Marketing Bill, which provides for the formation of wheat-growers' pools, was carried by the Assembly.
