NAVY LEAGUE ART UNION.
LOCAL BRANCH APPROVES. The suggestion that the New Zea-' land. Branch of the Navy League should conduct an art union in aid of its funds, which was approved by the Wellington Branch on Wednesday, received consideration at the meetiiig of the General Committee of the Canterbury Brttnch last evening. Introducing the subject, the-chair-man (Mr T. H. Foster) said that although the Canterbury .Branch would share in the profits of an art union, it would also have to shoulder the burden of a portion of any loss that might be made.
After various members had expressed the opinion that they did not really approve of art unions, but realised that they were profitable ventures, it was decided that the branch shguld take part with the "-other ijiain branches in the organisation of an art union, if permission could be obtained from the Minister for Internal Affairs
