ST. JAMES' THEATRE.
"IS EVERYBODY HAPPY?" "Is Everybody Happy!" is the title o£ (he big feature of the new programme which will be shown at the St. James' Theatre tomorrow (Saturday). At last comes a chance to see the great Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra. This remarkable musical organisation of soventy-five pieces, which records the synchronised score which forms the accompaniment to all Warner Bros.' productions, has previously remained out of sight of the cameras, contributing their melodies unseen. But there are scenos in "Is Everybody Happy I'' in which the entire orchestra appears. "Is Everybody nappy?" marks the talking screen debut of the famous Tod Lewis, vaudeville's most popular and merriest entertainer, with a supporting cast including Ann Pennington, Alico pay, and Julia Swayno Gordon. There is an excellent plot ir» this photoplay which is studded with sparkling music, dancing, and fun. There are. some moments of pathos and exciting drama, and the story ifl one that has a popular appeal. The four song hits in "Is Everybody Happy 3" are "Wouldn't It Be Wonderful!", "I'm the Medicine Man for the BJues," "I'm Blue for You," and "Samoa.' The bos plans are now open at The Bristol. "SKIN DEEP." Excellent) short items make the programme at St. James' Theatre this week one of the best that has yet bean to Christchurch. Universal and Pathe gazettes cover the world field, and Jan Rubini (violinist) plays three numbers, each of which is excellent. The feature in the second half is "Skin Deep," a tense story of the underworld. Monte Blue is the star.
