The barometer IB tailing, and stood at 29.45 last evening. Wellington—A continuance of dull and cloudy conditions yesterday morning lasted until noon, when tho sun broke through and the remainder of the day was bright and warm. A light wind blew from tho north. Dunedin —The weather was again dull and overcast yesterday, with a light wind from the north-east and a misty rain early in the evening. Tho maximum temperature wa« 52 degrees. The barometer is steady at 20.50. Forecast. General Situation-A rather deep depression was crossing the Dominion yesterday. An intense anticyclone has moved out from south-eastern Australia, and barometers will rUo shortly in New Zealand. Winds —Backing everywhere shortly to southerlies and freshening, gale force probable at times in exposed positions.

Seas—Smooth to moderate, but becoming rough on the West Coast and noutli of CastleTaßtnan Sea —Strong and rough seiis in the eastern Tasinan Sea.
