CRUELTY TO CAT.
AIR OFFICER FINED. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM ) WELLINGTON, September 3. Wing-Commander Grant-Dai ton was fined to-day on a charge of ill-treat-.ment .of a cat. The action was taken by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on a complaint which, according to the evidence, showed that defendant, instead of taking the usual procedure of drowning, had knocked the animal on the head. The cat was not his, but a neighbour's. The Wing-Commander said it had , a fit on his place and he killed it on the ground. It had infantile paralysis and was a menace to health. The inspector considered the method of killing to be cruel. Defendant was fined £2.
