OBITUARY.

MR H'JSNRY. ENGLEBRECHT. ' One of the pioneers of Canterbury Mr Henry Englebrecht, passed away yesterday morning at the age of 90 He came to the Dominion in 1857. arriving by the ship Bosworth, and farmed at Kaiapoi until the flood in the north branch of the Waimakarin in 1866. Later he bought a farm at Bennetts, to the area of which ho added from time to time. For four years Mr Englebrecht was a member of the old Oxford Road Board, and for five years he was a member of, the Carleton School Committee. He married in 1861 a daughter of the late Lancelot Giles, of Kaiapoi- Island. He was keenly interested in all pertaining to farming and this was reflected io the perfect order in which his farm was kept. It is now owned .and worked by his grandson. Mr A. E. Cross.. Iti 1905 Mr Englebrecht . retired from farming and canw to live in Christchurch on., at. property in ..Boundary road (now,. Rossall street), which he had purchased and .on which be built a home in which he'. lived , till thetime, of his death. For a few years he w»s a member of the St. Albans Bowling Club, but resigned his membership owing to advancing years. Mr Englebrecht was typical of those who have helped to make the foremost fa-ming province in the Dominion. He leaves four sons and three, daughters and a large number of grandchildren. The funeral will take place at Kaiapoi to-morrow. MB A. GLENN. Mr A. Glenn, engineer to the Kaikoura County Council, died yesterday. , For some time Mr Glenn had not been in the best of health, and went to Hanmer Springs for treatment, subsequently going to Christchurch- Hospital, where he died. \ Prior to taking up his . duties at Kaikoura in January, 1920, he ras engineer to the CQllingwood County Council, and had. also acted in the same capacity in other districts. The Kaikoura correspondent of Tins Press writes:— . . During Mr Glenn's residence at Kaikoura he carried . out his duties with credit to himself and the Cottncil, and his death will be very much regretted by a large circle of friends He is sur- < vived by tWo sons and two daughters and his widow, to whom- sincere sym* pathy will be extended. . At a meeting of the Kaikoura Comity Council yesterday the chairman, is moving a vote of with the relatives, said that Mr Glenn had carried ont his duties fearlessly and faithfully, and all would regret, his death.. COULTHARD; The death of Mr Percy Frank Coulthard, for the lasttwoyears manager of the Auckland branch of the Standard Insurance Company, Limited, occurred on Tuesday, Mr Coulthard, who Hvaa only 41 years of age, was well known in insurance and commercial circles!, and at the time of his death was a member of the committee of the Auckland - Fire Underwriters' Association. Prior to joining the Standard Insurance Company he served for. ten years with the New Zealand Insurance Company, risin&to the position of chief clerk in Auckland. Mr Coulthard was an active member of- the Takaptinfc Masonic Lodge, immediate past president of the Takapuna Bowling Club, . and a member of .the .Auckland Club.
