- Lyttelton Club. The success of the annual ball of the Lyttelton Club, held in May, has induced the Social Committee to arrange a similar function, to be known as tho president's ball, which will take place in the' Club Ball tomorrow night. Dante music will be provided by the Ployd-Grummitt orchestra. Memorial Service. The evening service at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday was a memorial - service in "memory of. the late Mr Edgar Wells, who had been- a member of the choir 'for the greater part of hi» life, and of tlio late Mr J. Furneaux, a member of the church. Tho preacher was the vicar, the Rev. A. 0. Purchns. . . - Fancy Dies* Party. An enjoyable children's fincy. dress party was held in St. Saviour's Schoolroom on Saturday afternoon' in connexion with the West Lyttelton School Queen Carnival. There was a largo attendance of . children and parents. The Mayoress (Mrs W. T. Foster), who judged the costumes, awarded prizes as follows: — Children under eight years: Sandy Hannah (Golliwog), Brenda Malm (White Leghorn). Over eight years: Betty Ryder (Grannie), Cliff Malm (Captain Scott). Cheapest costump: Jim Steward (Penguin), Betty Brooks (Suck of Potatoes). Special prizes: Alan Coleman (Lucky Cat), Mary Hayes ..(Bluebird), Eddie Oates (Schoolgirl), Gladys Barraclough (Page), Gladys Lister (Blucbag),- Ray Sutton . (Pierrette). .Most original costume: Lila Hammond (Danger Signal), Godfrey Barnes ("Sun" Newspaper). ... Prize for youngest child: Jean Veal (Dutch Girl), Jamie Stewart; .(Hot Water),.
