TROLLEY-BUSES.

WORKING PLANS DUE NEXT MONTH. PROGRESS OF POLE LINE. Advice has not yet been received by the Christchurch tramway authorities of the first shipment of troliey-bus chaasis, which was expected to be mudo about tho beginning of the present ir.onth. In February last the Tramway Board ordered six chassis to be delivered at tho rate of two monthly. Three sets of plans have been prepared by the English Electric Company, the makers of the ohass-s, and two of these have been posted; the third set, the full working drawings and specifications, is to be posted on the 31st inst., and should reach the Board about Au&ust 21st. On the receipt of all three aets of plans the Board immediately will invite tenders locally for the bodies without waiting for the arrival of the chassis; but no contract will be entered into until the chassis have arrived and have been compared with the drawings upon which the tenders have been invited.

The construction of tho pole line on the North Beach route, the first on which trolley-bus operation will be made by the Board, is proceeding. Poles have been erected on the swam*) portion of Travis road, and a start has been made with the erection of po!es from the car-shed along Fitzgerald avenue. The tramwav poles in the portions of Cashel and Worcester streets included in the North Beach trolleybus route have been fitted with the necessary equipment to carry the {red, er s for the trolleybuses. A further consignment poles is expected to come to hand shortly.
