CITY COUNCIL VACANCY.
♦— — CLOSING OF SUPPLEMENTARY ROLL.
The roll to be used at the City Council by-election to .fill the vacancy paused by the death of Cr. F. B. Cooke closes at 5 p.m. to-morrow, To date only abont 20 applications for enrolment have been received. This is not very surprising in view of the fact that there were many enrolments in April on the occasion of the by-o)cc-tion to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Cr. P. W. Sharp. k There are about 1200 names to go on the supplementary roll representing the names of new owners of properties that have changed hands since the previous supplementary roll was issued. Except iu the cases of persons who own more than one property and who have not disposed of all tlieir properties, a similar number will be struck off the main roll. Nominations of candidates close before noon on Saturday next.
