HOARDING TO GO.
CLOCK TOWER'S NEW SITE. A decision was reached by the City Council last evening to refuse to grant a renewal of the permit for the hoarding near the site to which the Clock Tower will shortly be removed. The By-laws Committee reported:— Messrs Chandler and Co.. Ltd . have a hoarding in close proximity to the new site for the jubilee clock tower at the intersection of Salisbury. Montreal. and Victoria streets The committee considers that thib permit, which expires on December 81st next, should not he renewed, and recommends that notice be served upon Messrs Chandler and Co. to this effect, luit ..iat the company be informed that the Council is prepared to grant permits for hoardings in business areas subject to the sites meeting with the committee's approval, and on condition that the total number of hoarding* controlled by the company does no.t osr-eed the number licensed for the year ending December 31st, 1930. The report was adopted.
