GIFT FOR NEW ART GALLERY. It;was announced yesterday that the Norman Lindsay water-oolour, "The Swing," offered to the McDougall Art Gallery by .Mr G. Sevicke Jones,- had been accepted. Until a permanent committee has been set up to consider the acceptance, or otherwise, of offers of pictures fo? the Art Gallery, the! procedure followed is to , submit the picture offered to representatives of the Society of Arts for their opinion, and .' e Mayor seeks-ex-pert advice before deciding to. accept gifts of pictures.
