Butter in a country which was formerly a large exporter of this commodity is now 26a 6d a pound arid most of" the rationed foodstuffs "are 'Unobtainable at the. Government co-operative stores. , IJggs are "issued for children's'consumption only. Supplies of slaughtering cattle have stopped altogether, while clothing, footwear, and other necessities are alipost unobtainable .at any price; Meanwhile within the last five' months there has been heavy deflation in - note circulation. ,■ The "Courier" adds: "If this is the State of affairs in the pampered capital, whose workmen are on the basis 'of Bolshevism, what must it be in the less favoured provincial • towns.
