Mrs Barron and Miss D. Barron (Wellington), who have been the guests of Mrs C. J. Eonaldson, Papanui road, left for Wellington last night. Mr and Mrs F. M. Warren and Miss Dora Warren ("Waipuna," Eiecarton) left last night for a six weeks' holiday trip to Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Miss W. Anderson (Waiiganui) is visiting her sister, Mrs A. C. Cottrell (Mcrivale Lano). Mrs Baysmith (Australia), who is staying with Mrs Gray Colbeck, Fendalton, is leaving for Auckland on Monday. She will return to Christchurch noxt month and will be the guest of Mrs Guy Cotterill, Merivale, for Grand National Week.

Porter (Auckland) have returned to the North Island after b short visit to Christchurch. Miss Marjorie Shackel (Springston South) has returned home after spend»ng a holiday in Wellington. Mrs Algar Williams has been appointed to represent the Canterbury branch of the Navy League at the annual conference to be hold at Dunedin in the last week in July.

At tho Plunket Society's Skating Carnival, which is being organised by Mrs Ernest Boulton and Mrs H. J. Ballin, and which will be held at the Olympia to-night, an exhibition of skating will be given by Mr and Mrs Ragg. The United Service Hotel staff dance will be held on Monday, July 14th, at the Winter Garden. Music will bo supplied by the Bailey-Maraton Band. "AT HOME" At her home in Papanui road Mrs 0. E. Kiver was hostess at two pleasant afternoon receptions, given in honour of her daughter, Miss Doreen Kiver, who is leaving the Dominion in a few weeks for England, where she is to be married. The drawing-room was decorated with tawny chrysanthemums and the dining-room, where tea was dispensed, was gay with bowls of mixed flowers. Mrs Kiver wore a handsome frock of black marocain; Miss Doreen Kiver's graceful frock of petunia floral ninon was worn with a coatee to match, and Miss Betty Kiver wore a frock of patterned georgette, with narrow belt and deep vandyked hem of geranium-red georgette. DISTRICT NURSING ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the Nurse Maude Association for District Nursing was held yesterday. Mr W. G. Jamieson was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Nurse Maude reported that for the month of June the nurses had paid 1083 visits. One hundred and ninetysix visite had been paid to the rooms by out-patients and 727 calls were made at the rooms for advice and help The secretary. Mr G. L. Donaldson, reported that the finances were not in a good position, and unless more donations were received ft would be necessary to arrange for a. street collection. Tt was hoped that this would not be necessary, as the Association had not had a street collection since the nppeal for funds to erect the building in Madras street. Mr Whatman reported that the "Letter Carriers" wete making good progress with the revue, which they were putting on for the benefit of the Association early in September.

PLUNKET SOCIETY. MACKENZIE BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Mackenzie branch of the Plunket Society was held at itairlie. There was a good attendance and Mr C. J. Talbot presided. The president (Mrs Talbot) read the report for the year. This showed that the branch had had a good year. Mrs J. A. Brown (president of the Te Ngawai sub-branch) reported on the .vorii Uone during the year. PRESENTATION AT SUMNER.

On Tuesday evening members of the Redcliffs Ladies' Hockey Club met at the homo of the secretary, Miss G. Bates, Grafton street, Sumner, t<f bid farewell to Miss May Mathews, whose marriage takes place shortly, and who will be leaving the district for North Auckland. Mr H. W. Rogers spoke of the good work Miss Mathews had done for the club, and wished her every happiness in her future life. He then called upon Mrs W. H. Nicholson (Mayoress of Sumner), on behalf of members of the club, to present Miss Mathews, with a beautiful travelling rug, with her initials inscribed, and a Pyrex dish.
