PHILLIPSTOWN SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

At the monthly meeting of tho Phil, lips town School Coramittoe, there were present the Re?. 0. A. Fraer (chairman), Mrs Agassiz, Messrs Agassifc, Woodham, lleove, Kirk, and Rich. A vote of sympathy was passed with the headmaster (Mr A. C. Maxwell) in his bereavement. The headmaster-re-ported that the number on the roll was 808, and that the attendance had been satisfactory. - The chairman reported that with the secretary h* had waited on the Education Board in regard to finance, and the deputation had been very favourably received. As an outcome of the deputation's efforts, the Minister for Education had promised ft grant towards the bath funds. An application from the Salvation Army for the use of a basketball court on Saturday alternoons was granted, subject %o the. court not being required by school teams. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Kirk for painting 6igns. Arrangements wero finalised in connexion with the use of the school grounds for the parking of cars.on the occasion of the second Test. Messrs Kirk, Rich, and tlie chairman wero appointed a subcommittee to arrange concerts, and the date of the annual fair was fixed as November 29th. It was resolved that the Swimming Club be written to, inviting a deputation in regard to oath control. Accounts amounting to £44 8* Id were passed for payment. During the evening. Mr Hurley, a candidate for the Education Board, waited upon the committee, and xfaa accorded ft hearty rote of thanks for his addreea.
