By meana of two ultra-violet ray lamps and a A<*or specially prepared with soil and fertilisers, fldwers and fruit are grown to jiprfAction in a remarkably short space of time. Mr Ferris, th e head gardener, told the King, and' Quean, who were amazed at the results obtained, that, they had daffodils in flow er in the second weok in January, ana as many strawberries as they by March 12tli. The cellar is k* >pt at a moderate temperature, and tha flowers and fruit are seldom given md re than . eight hours a day of the ultrA -.violet rays. It is stated that, there are only two similar gardens in existence —one in Sussex and the othd'.f in New York.
