SHAW, SAVILL SERVICES.
Lord Kyls'ant, at the annual meeting of tho White Star Company, in London, specially referred to the company's New Zealand activities. He remarked: "We are specially interested in New Zealand through the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line, which we believe to be the oldest line trading with the Dominion, and had the honour of bringing to this country in their sailing vessel Dunedin tho first cargo of frozen meat from New Zealand, thus being the pioneers of what to-day is a huge industry. New Zealand is suffering no less than other countries by reason of the world depression in trade. The interests of the producers and shipowners are identical , vc depend on one another. To-day. unfortunately, the producers are suffering through the collapse in prices of thefr commodities, which is regrettable, and this factor is likely to react detrimentally upon outward cargoes consequent on diminished purchasing power. Again, we hope that .the preseiit conditions will be short-lived. Our new -'fast motor cargo vessels recently placed on this route are proving in every way suited to the trade." He referred to the new Zealandic, Coptic, and Taranaki.
