t ■ CHANGES OF COMMANDS. Following the death of Captain William Marshall, commander of tlio Majestic and Commodore of the Whito Star fleet, the following transfers of commanders have taken place:— Captain E. R. White, of the Olympic, will take over the Majestic. Captain G. E. Warner, of tho Homeric, will move to the Olympic, and Captain J. E. Sulman, wjio commanded the Laurcntic, has taken over the Homeric. Captain E. L. Trant is to act as relief commander for the Majestic, Olympic, and Homeric, employed In the New York-South-ampton Express Service until the end of the year, when he will. become commander of the Olympic on the retirement of Captain Warner. Captain Trant's recent appointment to the new Britannic has, therefore, been cancelled, and the new motor-vessel will be commanded by Captain F. F. Summors, now in tho Albertic, who was to join the new ship on her maiden voyage from Liverpool on June 28th. Captain Summers was born in 1874, and served his apprenticeship with Messrs Fisher and Sprott. of London. After ten years »t sea, he joined tho White Star Line as a Junior officer in June. 1899, and rose to chief officer in April. 1911. In addition to having served as Btaff captain of the Majestic he has in turn commanded the White Star liners Belgic, Gallic, Megantic, Ceramic, Persic, Baltic, Doric, and Albertic, to the last of which-he was appointed in December, 1927.
