ANNUAL MEETING. The Annual Meeting of the New Zea land Metropolitan Trotting Club wac held last evening, Mr C. M. Ollivier presiding over a good attendance oi members. The report and balancesbeel, already published, were adopted. Mr Ollivier ttaid he was pleased to see a good attendance, but he thougnt that had there been anything wrong with the balance-sheet there would have been an overtlow meeting.
A member asked a question as to th«* expenses in connexion with the running of the club's meetings. The item of the Meeting was queried by a member, but explanations by the secretary satis tied the meeting. Mr R. M Morten raised a question as to why seats were not reserved for members alone.
The chairman explained that there was a limit on the number of tickets issued and with this accommodation members would be considered. Mr Morten said thpt one could look round the members' stand and see scores of people who were not members of the club occupying seats that were rightly those of members. Mr J. C. Clarkson said th;: it was recognised that up to the present there was not enough accommodation for members, but he thought that more accommodation would be provided in the future. ■
Mr J Wood said that already tenders had been let for extra accommodation. Mr Morten raised a question as to whether the committee intended reducing the time between the races. He said that in the event of the time . not being reduced, would it not be possible to have the horses kept not so long on the tracks as at present. It was said that it was the intention of the club to reduce by five minutes the times between races. Mr J. H. Tompkins referred to the problem of unemployment, and he moved that £IOOO be voted to the unemployment fund. It was decided to take a vote on tho subject. The recommendation was not adopted, but Mr J. Wood stated that though the motion had been lost, consideration would probably be given to the matter at a meeting of the committee of the club. TIMARU T.C. The following nominations have been received for the committee of the Timaru Trotting Club. As five only are required, a ballot will be held: Messrs F. Chrter, J. Gilmore, A. P. Greenfield, Thomas Harrison, T. H. Ivey, R. G. Kilgour, and H. P. Morton. SOUTH CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB* The following nominations have been received for the committee of the Snntb Canterbury Jockey Club:—Messrs A. 8 Elworthv, H. Lowry, C. L Orbelt M. H. Richards. T. R. Rhodes, and T. Seaton. As onlv five are required, a ballot will be held.
