WAIPARA COUNTY BRANCH.

The quarterly meeting of the executive of the Waipara County Plunket Society was held in Waikari on Tuesday, when those present were Mrs B. L Blunden (president), Mrs G. R. Macdonald (Cheviot), Sister Green (Waikari), Dr. M. Wood (Hawarden), l>r. Furkert (Culverden), and Dr. Hunter (Waikari). Apologies were receiveo from Mrs A. J. iilakely (honorary secretary), Mrs H f Dampier-Crossley (Waiau), L. R. C. Macfarlane (Culverden), Mrs H. Acton Adams (ScargillMotunau), and Mrs A. Cameron (Wai-para-Onnhi). A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr Chapman (Waipara) on the loss of his wile, who was honorary secretary of the YVaipara-Omihi subbranch. The president reported that the annual reports and balance-sheets had been returned from headquarters (Dunedin) and were ready for printing, subject to a few corrections. Correspondence was received regarding Dr. Derrick's resignation, leave of absence to Miss Pattrick. the confirmation of an increase in the nurse's salary (Dunedin headquarters), and the placing of a certain sum of money on fixed deposit for the Scargill-Motunau sub-branch. BRIDGE PARTY. Miss Connie Ledger (Knowles street), who is leaving this month for Britain, where her marriage will take place in Wales, shortly after her arrival, was the guest of honour at a bridge party given last night by Miss Gladys Diamond, at her homo in Murray place. Those present were Miss Ledger, Mrs C. L. Meredith-Kaye, Mrs N. Coxhead, Miss Hazel Evans, Mrs Brabant (Dunedin), Miss Irene Ponder, Miss birdie Ferguson, Miss Helen Gunn, Miss Gladys Gray, Miss Dulcie McCredie, and Miss A. Hannan. BAND DANCE. Mr L. Bloy and the twenty-eight members of his Banjo Band held their annual dance at the Jellicoe* Hall last night when a very pleasant evening was spent by the members of the banu and their iriends. 'ihe memoers ol the committee were Misses iloyd and Churchill, and Messrs A. V. Brown (secretary), Herriot, Foster, and Broadhead. Dance music was supplied by Margaret Middleton's orchestra. and during the evening many selections were splendidly played by the Banjo Band. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs L. Bloy. Hodgson. NORTH LINWOOD KINDERGARTEN. The monthly meeting of the North Linwood Free Kindergarten was held in the schoolroom on July Ist. Those present were Mesdamcs Jarden (in the chair), Retallick, Calder, Stewart, and Powell. It was reported that during the month the usual dance had been held at Canberra Hall, and arrangements were made for. the next dance, to be held this month. The attendance at the school had been very poor owing to the cold weather, but the roll number, it was reported, had now reached 42. Highest attendance was 86, lowest attendance 14, average attendance 35. During the month Mrs J. R. Evans and Mrs Keith Hadfield visited the kindergarten. The committee regietted the loss of two members of the Parents' Committee —Mrs llollitt and Mrs Grant—who have moved from the district." The Parents' Committee has decided to hold a work stall next week. Accounts were passed for payment and the for the month were £2 Os lid. Mrs Baker and Mrs Powell were appointed a visiting committee for the month. During the month the treasurer paid £5 *nto. the Association. NORTH LINWOOD KINDERGARTEN DANCE. A very enjoyable dance, one of a series of monthly dances, arranged by the North Linwood Kindergarten Committee, was held at. Canberra Hall, which was decorated with coloured ntreamers, and vases of winter rosea. Mr Hanson acted as M.C.. and Mr Walton's band supplied the music. The winners of the .prizes were as follows Lucky spot: Miss Lumy and Mr James: Monte Carlo: Miss Stribling ana partner: snowball dance: Miss D. Taylor.
