UNION STEAM SHIP COMPANY.
THE NEW ISSUE. A Dunedin Press Association message the other day stated that it would doubtless be news to preference shareholders in the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., to learn that, in addition to the original one million 5J per cent, prefereence shares that have been in existence for some years, the company at some time prior to September 30th, 1928, issued a further one million 5J per cent. B preference shares. In commercial circles, in Dunedin, the message stated, "it is not known to whom these shares were issued, but it is certain that they were not offered to the original preference shareholders, who would, no doubt, be interested to know exactly what are the right 3 of the B preference shareholders." On enquiry at the head office of the Union Company in Wellington it was ascertained that the original preference shareholders' interests are in no way affected by the B preference issue in question. All rights of the original preference shareholders stand, and such original preference shares carry priority rights over the later issue. The issue of these B preference Bhares is noted in the "Annual Summary of British Shipping Finance."
