MR M'ILVENEY'S SUCCESSOR. [THE PBBBS Special Service,] WELLINGTON, July 2. The resignation of the Commissioner of Police has naturally excited some speculation in the Public Service and out of it as to the choice of a successor to the position. It is expected that an early announcement will be made. If the appointment is to be made from the Police Force it will be surprising if the present district superin- I tendents are overlooked. In order of I seniority they are Messrs W. Q. Wohlmann (Auckland), A. T. Emerson (Wellington), E. Eales (Christchurch), and J. C. S. Willis (Dunedin). It is being suggested in some quarters that an appointment may bo made from outside the police service or from outside New Zealand.
