♦ RANGIORA. A meeting of the Eangiora Borough Council waa held last evening. Present: The Mayor, He C. S. Ayera, and Cia. B. R. Gillanders, J. Lindon, R. H. Bailey, C. W. IVler, H. K. Kipperiborger, C. E. Bell, W. Horrell, IV Martyn, and W. C. Wilson.. ■ Colonel J. M. Dawson, > Medical Officer, wrote approving; of .the; site on, the Ashley river bed as suitable for the. refuse dump, fend also suggesting that the time had arrived when a compulsory refuse "collection for the borough" should be commenced. "A telegram was received.from Mr-Vincent 'Wood thanking the Council for their letter of eymipathy in Sir Joseph Ward's illness. ■The Hon. G. W. Forbes wrote; thanking the. Council for their congratulations on his appointment as Prime Minister. The honoraiy secretary of the Itangiora High School ' Council wrote thanking the Council for its genorosity in providing the labour for the installation of the pump at . the school baths. The North . Canterbury Hospital Board . forwarded a statement of accounts and levies. The levy for the borough this year will be. £ISOO 6s 3d as against £1602 8s 7d the previous year, being £45 less. The Council approved of the following estimates for the year:—Estimated receipts (not including the gas and electricity departments), £8446; payments, £8306.
