MAGISTERIAL. FRIDAY. (Before Mr E. D. Moßloy, 6.11.) TWO CHARGES. Sentencos of six months' imprisonment aud three months' imprisonment were imposed on William Francis Taylor, a labourer, aged 49, on two charges to which he pleaded guilty. They were that on May 26th, at Ohristchuroh, he stole a watch, chain, and medal to a total value of £B, the property, of Alexander McKinnon, and that on May 28th, at Christchorch, he received from somo person or persons unknown one overcoat and one pair of surgical soissors to a total value of £2 10s, the property of James Stafford, knowing the Bame to havo been Btolen. REMANDED. Robert Stanley Stuckey, a labourer, Bged 29, Cecil Arthur Verey, a labourer, aged 21, and George Alfred Webb, a labourer, aged 29, were charged that An May 19th, at Belfast, they broke and entered the warehouse of Florence Hayward, with. intent to commit a crime. Vcrey and Webb were also charged that on May 23rd, nt Hornby, they broke and entered the warehouse of Lewis Emil Laugoson with intent to commit a crime. Accused, who wore represented by Mr R. Twyneham, were remanded until June 6th.

IDLE AND DISORDERLY. John Askew Bell was Sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour for being an idle and disorderly person- without sufficient lawful means of support, and three months' imprisonment with hard labour for obtaining £5 in money from Harold Alfred Dawber by means of a false pretence.

THEFT. Lawrence Gosney was charged with stealing an overcoat valued at £2 10s, tho property of William Hubert Davis; with stealing an overcdat, valued at £6, the property of Frederick William Lovett; with stealing a blanket, valued at £1 ss, the property of Margaret McOulloch Bryce, and with stealing three blankets, valued At £3 15s # tlie property of Margaret McCulloch Bryce. On the first charge he was convicted and ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for a term not exefieding 18 monthß, on the second and third charges convicted and discharged, and on the fourth convicted and ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for a term not exceeding 18 months.

BY-LAW OASES. , For cycling without a light the following wore fined:—Horace Ashby, Gordon lleald, (William Hegan, Ronald Hobday, James Howtarth, Frank William Pankhurst, and Harold Odoring each 10s and costs. William Gamble, 20s and costs, and ! William Herbert McGrath and Harold Percival Squire, each 5s and costs. Hawking without a license cost Frederick Hill 5s and costs. Lily Simmons was convicted and discharged for lighting a fire without a permit. For negligent driving, Cecil Haigh was fined 20s and costs. Stanley George Harrington and Lionel Pflngelly were <ined 10s and costs for cycling on the footpath. Harry Ernest Herbert was finod 10s and costs foi driving a motor-cycl« without a license.

James Matthews was lined 20s and costs for failing to report an accident. A fine of 20s and costs was imposed on Ernest Henry Pateman lor speeding. He was given 14 days in which to pay. Benjamin Riseley was fined 10s and costs for having no head-lights, and was convioted and discharged for having no rear light on his car.

Ernest Alfred Sisson (Mr A. J. Malley) was fined £2 and costs for negligent driving. George Spencer was fined 5s and costs for cycling without a light, and 10s for giving a false name.

A charge of dangerous driving against Leslie George Macßeth (Mr W. J. Stacey) was dismissed.

John Stevenson was convicted and discharged for dangerous driving. He was prohibited from obtaining a license for six months from June Ist.

Stephen Arthur Williamson (Mr C. S. Thomas) was fined £2 and costs for failing to give way, and convicted and discharged for cutting a corner. For allowing a chimney to catch fire, John Thorn was fined 5s and costs. William John Taylor was fined 5s and costs for having no tail-light on his car, and convicted and ordered to pay costs for driving without a license. Arthur James Philp was fined £2 and costs for failing to give way, and Robert Thomas Overend £1 and costs for a similar offence.
