SECOND DEMONSTRATION
CONCERT.
An enjoyable programme of selected items by tho leading competitors In th# Christchurch competitions just concluded was given at the Society's secbud demonstration concert last evening at the Civic Theatre.
As tho competitions have shown throughout, there is evidence ot very considerable talent on the part of a majority of performers, and last evening's concert made this even more evident. There was a wide range of entertainment—piano &olos, duets, songs, and dancing making an interesting selection. Tho playing of Misses Marjorio Alexander and Noel Capo-Williamson was exceedingly well received. The ballet "Winter" was one of tho most attractive Itemß, though the audience's approval was generously accorded throughout tho evening. The bouquets and boxes of chocolates presented were numerous. Tho programmo was as follows: Piano duet, "Haxantani," Lola and Gordon Anderson; sold, "How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings," Linda Orenne 1 !!; Highland Fling, Duncan Mclntyro; girl's Bong, "Song of Florida," Ngaire Henley; song, "Bleanore," Stanley Sayers; Steel guitar solo, Hilda Wilkinson; recitation, "Old G-rey Squirrel," Harold Baigent; story dance, ' The Butterfly," Gladys Rose; piano solo, "Arabesque," Marjorie Alexander; duet, "Lilac Time," Grace Nixon and Doris Donnelly; character recitation, "Xrae," Deirdre Hungerford; song, "Tho Enchantress," Myra Button; Grecian dance, Emily Turner; schools' choir. Papanui School; recitation, "Maoriland." Kathleen Chappie; operatic solo, "Michaela's Song," Gladys Brooks; character duo, Peggy Gee and Joan Millar; song, "The Wraith." Ernest Glading; piano solo, "Rigoletto," Noel Cape-Williamson; song, "The Reason." Nina Partridge; monologue, "Love in a Car." Lily Kinsella; trio, "May Morning," Miseeg Angus, Philpott, and Bond; song, "A Spring Fancy," Annie Gale; folk dance, Shirley team; negro spiritual, "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," H. J. Francis; piano duet, Joan Sorrell and Berwyn Frve; recitation, "horning Thanksgiving," Ivy Fowler; ballet, "Winter," Iris Edmonds's School; solo, "Consider and Hear Me," Georg« Maxwell.
