A LETHAL CHAMBER FOR DOGS.

TO . THS BBITOB Of THB PRESS Sir,—-Some - time sinco some, of those who loved their dog friends endeavoured to geVthe City Council to substitute a lethal chamber for the barbarous contrivance in present use at the City Council yards. What is the municipal lion in the way! Not want of funds, for -wo seeni to. have an abundance of money for other rather unnecessary luxuries. May I enquire what becomes of the ten shillings (10s) dog tax paid by every owner each year for their dogs! There is only to bo deducted from that about 6d or 9d for a rough piece of leather for a collar. Where docs the taxpayers' money go to? The dog tax should be applied to the purpose for-which it was intended by those who are obliged to part with their pets. The dying eyes of a dear dog friend m protracted agony are not a eight to be j

desired. Hoping some of your readers will give a helping hand to this cause. —Yours, etc., HUMANITY. May 29th, 1930.
