MR MAWSON IN DEFENCE OF DEPARTMENT. (feess association tileobam.) ' MASTERTON, May 30. ~ A conference to-day between the Director of Town Planning and other members of the Board and local body representatives resulted in an almost unanimous agreement that the Wairarapa region should comprise tho area from Palliser Bay on the south between the Tararuas and the sea, to, and including, the Pahiatua borough and county, and Akitio county on the north.. During the conferemse, Mr Mawnbl dfalfc infti«iv«ly with th« idAathafcregional planning and town planning amounted to the setting up of a,a<nr and costly Government Department, and providing fat jobs for thin people. He invited his . hearers to take a pood ' look at the Department.'■ It'consisted of himself and his secretary.
