Bayard Veiller, author of tho stape play, went to Hollywood under a special agreement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor to direct tho screen adaptation. Voillor, whose earlier plavs include "Within the Law" and "The Thirteenth Chair," recently sailed for England and plans to produce his nest piece abroad. "Tho Trial of Mary Dugan' ran for more than a year on Broadway and is now being presented by eighteen road companies rxi tho United States and EuTope. The piottiro- has an all-star cast headed, by Norma Shearer, Lowis Stono,' who has the part of' Edward West, tho attorney for'the defence; W. B. Warner, that of the prosecuting attorney, and Raymond Uackott, who played to rolo of Jimmy Dugan on the stage and has tho same part in the photoplay. Others in the ca3t includo Olive Tell, Lilyan Tashman, De Vfiit Jennings, Mary Doian, Wilfrid North, and others.
