LA BARBA DEFEATS GRAHAM. COOK GAINS DECISION OVER WIGGINS. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION— BV. ELECTEIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (Received May 29th, 7.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. May 28. La Barba, the formei fly-weight champion (1241b), outpointed Graham 13-s*lb) in a ten-round bout. La Baiba won easily agamat his veteran opponent, and is regarded as being in line to meet Kid Chocolate for tho feather-weight championship. In a preliminary to the above light, Dun dee (151lb), ex-welter-weight champion, outpointed Parry Mason (1501b), of England, in ten rounds A report from Indianapolis states that Cook (1901b) won a ton-rounds decision over Wiggins (1971b), showing superiority throughout, although both clinched, considerably and wasted a good deal of time over ineffectual body blows. Cook seemed to allow Wiggins to hang on until the tenth, when ho opened up and gave him a terrific beating. A Chicago message states that von Porat knocked out Gagnon in the sixth of a scheduled ten-round bout. The winner, despite ft slow start, completely cruahetl Gagnon with heavy rights, and he took a thoroughly impressive victory.
CAREY V. HUGHES. The Christchurch Sports Club's third tournament this season will be staged at tho Caledonian Halt next Tuesday evening, when 8. Hughes will meet W. Carey in a professional bout. Tho contest between these two welter-weights should prove both fast and decidedly interesting. Both are full of confidence and determination to win. Id addition to this bout thero will be fivo hrst-class amateur bouts, in which the following will clash:—Percy Hawes v. Con Brosnahan, of Aahburton, E. Diggs v. R. Forward, W. Bissett v. F. Woolcock, R. Baird v. Andrews, and R. Rainos v. D. O'Sullivan.
